چکیده

Improvised formulation technology In the early 1990s, FDCs of antitubercular drugs were not advocated because of their relatively poor bioavailability and short shelf life. [3] With the present improved formulation technologies, the currently available FDCs are bioequivalent to single drug reference products. Moreover, the stability of these FDCs even after six months in tropical countries is well established.[3] Randomized controlled trials have proved their efficacy and systematic reviews also favor the use of FDCs for tuberculosis.[3,4]

A Case of Self-treatment Induced Recurrent Fixed Drug Eruptions Associated with the Use of Different Fixed Dose Combinations of Fluoroquinolone-Nitroimidazole

A young male patient used fixed dose combinations of different fluoroquinolones and nitroimidazoles several times in the last few years for self-treating repeated episodes of diarrhea and loose motion. Each time, he experienced fixed drug eruptions that increased in number and severity on subsequent occasions. Suspecting association between the drug and the rashes, the patient each time discont...

Fixed dose drug combination for treatment of tuberculosis.

877 VOLUME 46__OCTOBER 17, 2009 Anti-tuberculosis therapy (ATT) with multiple antimicrobials, administered individually or as fixed dose combinations (FDC) is the key to control of tuberculosis. Arguments in favour of FDC include better patient compliance, simplification of prescriptions, easier management of drug supply, reduced programmatic cost, and less chances of developing drug resistance...

Drug regimens identified and optimized by output-driven platform markedly reduce tuberculosis treatment time

The current drug regimens for treating tuberculosis are lengthy and onerous, and hence complicated by poor adherence leading to drug resistance and disease relapse. Previously, using an output-driven optimization platform and an in vitro macrophage model of Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, we identified several experimental drug regimens among billions of possible drug-dose combinations th...

Fixed-dose combinations improve medication compliance: a meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND Compliance with treatment is a sine qua non for successful treatment of chronic conditions like hypertension. Fixed-dose combinations are designed to simplify the medication regimen and potentially improve compliance. However the data on comparison of fixed-dose combination with free-drug regimen to improve patient's medication compliance is limited. METHODS We conducted a MEDLINE ...

Fixed-dose combinations of drugs versus single-drug formulations for treating pulmonary tuberculosis

BACKGROUND People who are newly diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) typically receive a standard first-line treatment regimen that consists of two months of isoniazid, rifampicin, pyrazinamide, and ethambutol followed by four months of isoniazid and rifampicin. Fixed-dose combinations (FDCs) of these drugs are widely recommended. OBJECTIVES To compare the efficacy, safety, and acceptab...
